Nimishillen Township Board of Trustees

September 22, 2011

 

On Thursday, September 22, 2011, the Board of Trustees of Nimishillen Township met in regular session at 7:00 PM at the Nimishillen Township Hall located at 4422 Maplegrove NE with the following members present: Trustee President Michael L. Lynch, Trustee Vice President Allen E. Gress, Trustee Lisa R. Shafer and Fiscal Officer Barry L. Evans.

 

Trustee Lynch called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM and led the staff and audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

NOTE: All reports are available at the township office located at 4915 N. Nickelplate.  Copies are 10’ per page.  Copies of meeting CD’s are available for $1.00 per CD.

 

INVOCATION:  Trustee Lynch gave the invocation.

 

FIRE DEPARTMENT: (Chief Richard Peterson)

 

Trustee Lynch explained Chief Peterson had called him this afternoon to let him know he was working on a grant that is due tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 23rd, and asked to be excused from tonight’s meeting.

 

RESOLUTION: APPROVE PURCHASE OF RESCUE BOAT AND TRAILER: TRUSTEE GRESS MOTIONED TO APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF A RESCUE BOAT AND TRAILER FROM PHOENIX SAFETY OUTFITTER FOR $11,397.00 SECONDED BY TRUSTEE SHAFER.  MOTION CARRIED.  RES#11-235

RESOLUTON: APPROVE PURCHASE OF 40HP YAMAHA JET DRIVE BOAT ENGINE:  TRUSTEE SHAFER MOTIONED TO APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF A 40HP YAMAHA JET DRIVE BOAT ENGINE FROM PORTAGE LAKES MARINE FOR $5,400.00 SECONDED BY TRUSTEE GRESS.  MOTION CARRIED.  RES#11-236

ROAD DEPARTMENT: (Jack Magee, Superintendent)

 

DISTRICT GRANT PROGRAM: Jack reported we were accepted for the Stark, Tuscarawas, Wayne Solid Waste Mgmt. District Grant Program to start July 1, 2011.  We’ll receive up to $200/month.  This is a one-year grant, which we can apply for yearly.

ZONING DEPARTMENT: (Dale Riggenbach, Inspector)

 

RESOLUTION: DECLARE 5222 CLAY STREET A NUISANCE AND ABATE PROPERTY: TRUSTEE SHAFER MOTIONED TO DECLARE 5222 CLAY STREET A NUISANCE AND ABATE THE PROPERTY DUE TO LACK OF OWNER’S MAINTENANCE OF VEGETATION, GARBAGE, REFUSE AND OTHER DEBRIS AND PLACE ALL RELATED COSTS ON THE TAX DUPLICATE IN COMPLIANCE WITH O.R.C. 505.87 (NAMELY HIGH GRASS & WEEDS) SECONDED BY TRUSTEE GRESS.  MOTION CARRIED.  RES#11-238

RESOLUTION: APPROVE TRANSFER: TRUSTEE SHAFER MOTIONED TO APPROVE TRANSFERRING $3,414.00 FROM 10-E (OTHER EXPENSES) TO 21-F (TRANSFER IN-CAPITAL FIRE) PROCEEDS FROM SALE OF DODGE TRUCK SECONDED BY TRUSTEE GRESS.  MOTION CARRIED. RES#11-240

CITIZENS:

 

·        Bill Blackmer of 3505 Maplegrove: Asked to have a tree removed from a ditch and talked about mosquito spraying.  After discussion, Jack said the tree would be taken care of when weather does not permit them to work on the roads. 

·        David Scheurer of 916 High St.: Mr. Scheurer, on behalf of the Louisville Constitution Day Committee, presented Trustee Gress a Certificate of Appreciation for participating in judging the essay contest and thanked him for attending the Naturalization Ceremony.

 

TRUSTEES:

 

RESOLUTON: TRICK-OR-TREAT: Someone asked when the City of Louisville held Trick-or-Treat and was told they hold it from 3 - 5.  After discussion, TRUSTEE GRESS MOTIONED TO HOLD TRICK-OR-TREAT FOR NIMISHILLEN TOWNSHIP SUNDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2011 FROM 1PM TO 4 PM SECONDED BY TRUSTEE LYNCH.  MOTION CARRIED.  RES#11-241

            Roll call voting: Mr. Gress – YES, Mr. Lynch – YES, Mrs. Shafer – NO

 

WORK ON BROADWAY: Trustee Shafer reported she talked to Dave Torrence at the Stark County. Engineer’s office and was told the work on Broadway to replace the bridge is ahead of schedule.  The completion date is scheduled for early December but if it keeps going as it has, it could open up as early as November.
